It's been pretty poor. Certainly it's much easier to get a Java app
installed under Windows or MacOSX, but I think it's gotten around the
corner. Browser integration can still be painful, but Webstart apps do
work, as do most applications. Simple things like PATH and CLASSPATH is
not handled by some installers, so a novice user can install java but
get frustrated when trying to launch an app with a double-click or from
the command line.
