But really...a simple, yet effective solution is eliminating active-x and specifically IE. Moving to Firefox is quite effective. I've pushed a number of customers there (side biz) and have had no more spyware/adware problems (they got tired of $30 a pop).

There is a free home license, I take it this is not at home. How much is
