Joe,
I didn't check the link and the module details but as a quick thought,
the 2.6 kernels use .ko modules instead of the 2.4 .o's. Usually there
is some code that has been patched to things that are 2.6 compatible to
allow for the differences (modversions.h is a big one). You might start
there.
