I recently replaced a monitor on my SuSE system. The original monitor had a
max resolution of 1280x1024. The new monitor has a max resolution of
1024x768. When booting up, I no longer get the nice splash screen with the
oh-so-informative progress bar. Instead my monitor displays the message
"Can't display this mode" or some such. My working theory is that the splash
screen is trying to display in the 1280x1024 mode which my monitor can't
handle. Once the system is up in KDE everything is fine, but this is just a
little annoyance I'd like to correct. Any suggestions?
