Re: [SLUG] Samba File sharing

I only use samba if I want to share files between unix and windows, not unix
and unix, just because I find it a little annoying. Mounting the shares with
mount -t smbfs or in fstab isn't so bad I suppose, and Gnome 2.10 makes it
really simple if you use gnome-vfs-extras, but unless windows is involved, I
find NFS easier. That's just my opinion.
If you are using user level security, make sure you add the accounts you
want to have access into the samba password database by using smbpasswd -a
USERNAME on the machine running the samba server. If you attach your
smb.conf file, I could help you better. What authentication errors exactly
are you getting, and what are you doing that gets them? I know if you're
using Win2k or WinXP to connect to a samba server, you have to add access
for that machine and add a local user for that machine, but I don't think
that applies when using linux as a client. I could be wrong though.
 I've never heard of smbk4.
