The old Motorola cable modems are not "DOCSIS" compliant. Various
reasons that they would want to change them. Docsis complaint modems
are easier to monitor, control, etc. by your ISP. Also, modem speeds
could not be capped on the modem side with the older modem (but require
more "man-power" to cap them on router-side). "New" ones work fine.
