Spybot Search and Destroy in advanced mode has tools.
One is Startup. It shows you all the startup items.
You can first off disable without removing them to see if
you need to have them running all the time. In my Win NT4.0
I have only 3 things that really run all the time.
I have seen many with 20 to 50 items running all the time
including known viruses.
