The rebooting is a selection....

Right Click on My Computer, go to Properties, Advanced tab, Startup and
Recovery Settings button. Uncheck Automatic Restart. Then the message
should stay on the screen when it crashes. (Note, wording/names above
are from XP. 2000 will be slightly different. NT will be more
different. But basically the same instructions)
