[SLUG] automount vs ide-scsi

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

I have a DVD reader on /dev/hdd. There is a link /dev/dvd2:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Feb 15 2005 /dev/dvd2 -> hdd

Automount is running with this in /etd/auto.dvd:

dvd2 -fstype=auto,ro,mode=0666 :/dev/dvd2

auto.dvd is referred to in /etc/auto.master:

/mnt/dvd /etc/auto.dvd --timeout 5

It'll automatically mount discs, but not unmount them. I just now had the
thought that Samba might be interfering. Lemme have it _not_ share that
directory and see if it works...

Nope, doesn't seem to. What can I do? Now I think it might be getting hung
up with the link, but that's just a WAG.

Also, my other DVD drive, a writer, is /dev/hdc. I'm running ide-scsi on
it, as required (TTBOMK) under 2.4, as shown in this snippet from
/etc/lilo.conf:

append="mem=nopentium apm=power-off hdc=ide-scsi"

There is a link /dev/dvd1:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Feb 15 2005 /dev/dvd1 -> scd0

I've never successfully mounted a filesystem in that drive, using automount
or manually. To test a disc after burning, I always have to move it to the
other drive. What can I do differently? Thanks.
