Could be because I'm in the "disk" group, same group that owns /dev/hda .
That's only a WAG, though. Try turning off various monitors and see when it
stops asking. Didn't know it was supposed to ask me, though. My "solution"
opens a hole whereby a determined person (who can interpret ext3) can
rewrite /etc/shadow so root has no password. Maybe sudo and "alias
gkrellm='sudo /usr/bin/gkrellm'" is of use to you?
