We, as consumers and voters (or not), provide the incentive for that
to happen. And I notice that people who say, "Aww, that would be nice
but it's never going to happen," are the ones that don't do a damn
thing to *make* it happen.

It all comes down to your interpretation of "legitimate." I view
using technology to take back the rights these companies are trying to
take from us as legitimate.

Obviously I don't speak for anyone but myself, but I don't really care
about market dominance. I care that I can have a powerful system that
doesn't try to take control of my computer out of my hands. Which is
exactly what DRM attempts to do. So what if we don't have another
piece of proprietary (Starz) software? If you want proprietary
software, run a proprietary system. When did the point of GNU/Linux
become "Get as many proprietary apps as possible and become a clone of
every other system" ?
