[SLUG] Single Port terminal server

Folks,
I have a application where I need to send serial data from multiple sites,
I need to put a single port terminal server at each one of these locations
and send it back to a linux box. I am looking for small low cost single
port terminal servers, but need to know what I am going to need on the
linux box that is to capture the data from the remote devices. I have found
single port TS devices for as low as $99 each, the sales rep said that
the device driver may already be in linux, but I have never used these
things so am in unknown territory. Any pointers on what gear to use?

I do not want to use PC's at each remote site set up as terminal servers,
I am looking at using one of the small single port TS devices, it goes
plugged into the remote RS-232 device, and sends the data on to the
Linux box which needs to have some sort of seudo serial port that is
talking to these things and outputing a data stream from them.
