First I would way until trix box got out of version 1.0 There are so many
bugs compared to its predicessor A@H 2.8 ...

But if you are going to do it this is how

make sure you set the password for the ext in freepbx.

then go into xten

Menu (button next to the pick up button)
sys settings
Sip proxy
default
here is hwere you set you default sip settings or your other sip accounts
under the default or which other sip profile number you using if dealing
with multiple sip profiles
here how it breaks down
Enable=yes
Display Name = End Users Name that will show up on Caller ID if your voip
provider support call id fowarding
Username= the ext # you set in freepbx
Password= password that was set for that extension
Domain/Relm = server address ex 192.168.1.96 or public ip if the xten client
is not part of your network , or if you have a FQDN that points to your
asterisk box like PBX.weerobby.com
Sip proxy = *servers ip address
Outbound proxy = Can be either your asterisk box or more perferbably the
company proxy server if there is one
Use Outbound proxy = defualt , but if there is no proxy you can say no
send internal ip =default
register = default

If that does not work do this

attach monitor to asterisk box and it will show xten hopefully trying to
login it will say Xten lite version whatever. Note it does not come accross
via ssh even when you are in the asterisk cli
but it will tell you what is going on if you are having a problem
