I might have been able to make it work (I mean, I've made a computer boot
over NFS, and neither its BIOS nor its NIC supported that natively), but in
the interest of "saving time and mental energy", I just removed the (PATA)
drive from its USB case and installed it internally. With a 40-conductor
cable, since that's all I had. Now I get a crash course in Grub. Joy. I
