[SLUG] Kubuntu - IBM / Lenovo T60p - Smooth Scrolling

All,

I installed Kubuntu on a new IBM T60p (2GB memory, etc.) and even after
selecting "smooth scrolling" in the preferences tab, I can't get
Firefox to move smoothly.

I tried Googling it and can't find the answer...probably missed
something. Either way, if someone could point me in the right
direction I'd be most grateful.
