I use SolidWorks 2007 64-bit every day. I also have Cosmos FEA. I really
like it. Pretty easy to use, plenty capable, and well supported by many
third parties. When I run into something I can't do in Soldworks, I use
Rhino. Between the two, I can pretty much do anything. SolidWorks
reads/rights Rhino files, and Rhino is unmatched in it's abilty to move data
between CAD and CAM systems.

It's not nearly as fast as Rhino, and my assembly rebuild time runs several
miuntes. That's on an HP XW workstation, quad-core Xeon, Win XP-65 bit, 16
GB RAM and three 15,000 RPM SCSI drives in RAID 0. SolidWorks only uses one
cpu core most of the time. And Cosmos is 32-bit only, and can only use 2 GB
of RAM at the most. Frustrating.

I wish there was a Linux version of SolidWorks.

I realize it's not for Linux yet, but what do you think of SolidWorks?
I mean, have you used a recent version? I'm into machining.
