How much access do you really needP Just the text? Text and images,
separately? All layout, no exporting? Conversion? Just the text can be
done easily enough, with "strings". The next-to-last, maybe MS has a free
read-only program, like they do for Word and Powerpoint. Windows only, so
you'd have to use Wine or go to a library or something. I suppose you could
take screenshots for future reference.
