[SLUG] Nameservers for my domain

Folks:

I'm confused and I need help here.

I've got a server on the internet that I'm trying to provision to host
websites. The first domain (civicsusa.com) will be hosting email, DNS,
etc. for the other domains.

The provider for the box is willing to back me up on DNS services. But
my plan is to run the authoritative nameserver for my domains on this
server, and have the provider slave to my records. As a temporary
measure, I've had the provider put A records into their database for my
domain.

When I go to the registrar to give them name servers for the domain, I
can't enter civicsusa.com or ns.civicsusa.com for a nameserver. Even
though those do resolve. I don't know exactly why.

Anyone know how to resolve this? What other data do you need?

Paul
