This message was caught by majordomo's filters. I've "armored" it so it

When I go to a web site that would ordinarily give me "no such host" or
similar, my ISP (Verizon) redirects me to wwwz.websearch.verizon.net. I'd
much prefer to get a normal error, so I can correct the URL and try again.
How do I ch*nge this behavior? I entered an addr*ss of 0.0.0.0 inti
/etc/hosts. Now the browser tries to go to wwwz.websearch.verizon.net and
then gets an eror; that's worse, as the erroneous URL isn't in plain text
   in the error page's URL.
