OK, I found a program "nvidia-settings". I used it to redefine the monitors
as Twinview (other options were Disabled and Separate X Display).
Restarted X, nvidia-settings gets monitor models correct (so it can talk to
both monitors), X thinks :0 is 3200x1200, but RH monitor (added,
analog-connected) still has the roving "check signal cable" thing.
Restarted the computer, same deal. Reinstalled Nvidia drivers, same deal.
Powered off, turned off PS until it stopped whining, same deal. Ideas? Is
there some magic I need to perform?
