William, I made a new UBCD for Windows last month and has been nicely
updated in the past year (current Spybot and AdAware). I sometimes use
UBCD4Win for rescuing Windows boxes but many tasks may be also done with
a Knoppix disc.

There is an older CD you can Google called UBCD (no Windows designation)
that boots DOS and has many older HDD utilities like you want. I added
my old copies of the DOS Partition Magic and Drive Image to this disc
with the excellent documentation at this (Indian English) site.
