So I'm looking to get some couplers to join several short ethernet cables
into one long one. They sell long cables, so I know there's no electrical
or signaling problem with them per se. There might be extra loss through a
coupler, or looseness if it really sucks. A lot of the couplers I run
across imply or say right out that they're for phone use only, not
networking. For example:

Any straight-through 8-connector RJ45 coupler should work, right? It's no
big deal to me if it drops to 10 Mbps. Is this merely a CYA move by the
coupler manufacturer and/or seller?
