Hmm.. it appears dreamhost has unlimited bw and disk space- I wonder how they would react to throwing an entire 250G music collection at them.. lol - maybe not too well (I suspect even if you assure them you own all the music)

Location should not have anything to do with how fast it works for you here.
Cross country delay is only about 1/10th of a second or 100ms. Which means
once you hit the button it takes 200ms before the server is acting on your
request. Your delay with current ISP is entirely on the ISP end, and maybe
having a too small pipe to a backbone.
We have been running with a server in California for years and use it for all
sorts of things where long delay is not workable.
Current price I think is under $6 for 1 yr prepaid. With Great! service and
amazing amount of bandwidth (GB) and storage. (Dreamhost)
They even have a blog with things that goes wrong and needs service, so you
always know if there is anything wrong on their end. Usually I read about it
before I even notice anything. There are no issues they have ever not
handled. Plus I have full ssh capabilities and can run my own code.
A good number of server applications are available with 1 click install.
