If you look at the forums for Damn Small Linux.  
damnsmalllinux.org
 
You will find a community of Lua programmers there who use it alot for developement of the desktop utilities and apps  for DSL... Might find more of what your looking for there..
Along with a few variations of Lua.. Murga-Lua comes to mind..
