[SLUG] Network negotiation fails

Folks,
I installed a Mandriva LiveCd on a machine to do some testing, but for
some reason the machine will not negotiate something with the switch.

The switch sets there and flashes the two LED's that belong to that port
one indicates that it has selected 100M and the other 10M speed. I have
seen this many years ago but can not remember what I did to fix it. The
switch is a Netgear 8 port 10/100 switch. the sequence is 100m indicator
first then the 10 and 100m indicators, then it repeats. It seems like it was
some setting having to do with the fdx/hdx on the card, but I am not even
sure how to get to it anymore, this is a integrated NIC on the mother board.
It is a realtech nic, and it appears that the OS recognizes it but not sure
why things are not working properly.

out and having to identify your bits and pieces in the midst of torn
