If it overheats it usually locks up. Your description certainly covers what
could be a fan. I'd take the thing apart and clean it up. Must be very dusty
which puts higher demands on cooling to work. It usually also means bearings
will wear (dry) out. Spin each fan manually, it should move and stop gently
as if no care in the world. If not replace it.
