Just FTR, two of the hosts Ubuntu 8.04 LTS provides don't exist any more:

Mar 25 11:51:32 soundmachine ntpdate[6583]: can't find host libra.rice.edu
Mar 25 11:51:32 soundmachine ntpdate[6583]: can't find host ntp.cmr.gov

I'm using 2.pool.ntp.org successfully, with rolex.usg.edu as a backup. I
have FiOS.
