1. Here in Tampa, former mayor Lawton Chiles privatized the garbage
collection system in 1997. This reduced monthly payments by citizens
by ~40%.

2. I read today some pro-privatization political mail that mentioned Tampa
General Hospital which, seeing gluttonous losses, was privatized years ago.

My mother had worked there for about a decade and was the manager of the ER. I
remember her complaining during my youth about the complete mess that the
hospital was in.

When I today asked her about the privatization of TGH, she
responded, "they went from losing millions to making millions."
