[SLUG] While on the subject of Music....

How can I listen Midi files? I try to use kmid but it keeps complaining
that I don't have a midi device. Does it need a Midi port to even Listen
to such files? Are there any programs that could emulate this if this is
the case? (I've heard o=of one called timidity or somethign to that
nature. Has anyone else?) Also, I was wonderng if anyone knew of any
sythesizer programs that would emulate something like an E-Mu or a Moog
Synth (or just a basic analog synthesyzer)? The only programs I've found
(like the Nord programs)are programs which run on Windows (and, of
course, Mac) and I might be forced to put Windows on Win4Lin (or VMware,
whichever) to run those programs:(

P.S.
The soundcard is a Maestro 3 running on a Dell Insporion 8000 laptop.

Thanks for any help.

Norb
