Unfortunately, they never will. 3DS is so tightly tied to Wintel-NT
that they couldn't even get it to run properly on Alpha-NT when they
tried to port it a couple years back. Autodesk has their own set of
problems, and seems firmly entrenched in its position of a "Wintel CAD
software" company.
Now, if you were to switch, for example to Maya and Microstation, those
both do have Linux ports. But I can understand the business reasons why
you wouldn't be able to do that easily.
