I don't understand why anyone would want to force this issue. The Linux way
of doing it would be to use what you want and then see what stands the test
of time. The weeding out of substandard or (what will be) unpopular apps
takes time, and works best when left alone to just happen.
The Free Software that is good will remain in use of its own accord, and
what's not will fade away of its own accord as well.
