Actually, I believe several (if not just debian) distributions have
solved this problem. I'm happily using apt-get, which automagically
grabs whatever dependencies there happen to be. I'm aware that there
exists something called auto-rpm, which I believe does the same thing. I
haven't heard anything about auto-rpm, though.
