Why drop ICMP pakets? They are important for such diagnostics as Paul
was trying to do, and offer few expolit/DoS opportunities for the
average home user. If floods are a concern, the is supposedly a way to
rate-limit incoming packets with iptables, check the howto for that. it
is at netfilter.samba.org
