Check your logs: /var/log

Netscape Communictor 4.x is written in a way that it can pre-empt
X. But, thankfully, not the OS. Again, try:
   - Ctrl-Alt-Bksp
   - telnet/ssh from remote system (and kill X and/or kdm)
   - Ctrl-Alt-Del
