This from our good friend, Ed (the rocket scientist) Centanni :-) posted
on Sun Sep 23 at 16:13:32 2001. You guys do the math.

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hd<your drive letter>

for example for /dev/hdc

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hdc

You may need to reference the partitions (hdc1) but I believe the hdc
will work for the entire drive.  dd seems to be intelligent enough to
write to the end of the disk without needing you to tell it how large it
is.

Use this with GREAT care!

Ed.

Hey guys ... how about reading the smiley's too? They are used to identify
a jest and taking them into consideration could go a long way toward
soothing tempers.

Bryan is right ... this IS a Linux list and the website gives that as
being our first priority. If you have a question regarding the use of
Windows that directly relates to your use of Linux, ask away. But this is
not the list to discuss the use of DOS commands or Win to Win networking.
MSFT has its own support structure and it should be utilized for that
purpose. If it proves inadequate, oh well ... you were warned.

:-)
