My sendmail.cf file has a clause that reads something like
DSsmtp:helios.acomp.usf.edu
helios.acomp.usf.edu is the smtp server I want to use. I'm positive
that mutt uses sendmail because when I changed the above clause, it
wouldn't send anywhere, even the places that were previously
successful.

both kmail and sendmail are pointed to helios.acomp.usf.edu, smtp
protocol.
