http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue72/bright.html seemed like such an easy
project when I began...
Okay: Our current Samba 2.0.10 server (2.2.18pre11-va2.1) was running
GNU Ghostscript 5.50, which seems to have had known errors with
Windows-generated PostScript.
So I installed 6.52. I guess maybe it didn't install correctly -- I
don't know.
I've got the new gs binary installed and it's properly located within
$PATH.
"GNU Ghostscript 6.52 (2001-10-20)

I can do 'ps2pdf tiger.ps' and view the resulting tiger.pdf in all its
glory. No problem!
But when I try 'ps2pdf alphabet.ps' I get an ugly error message
(below) that I don't know how to interpret. It's clear there's a font
problem, but what?
I've tried installing ghostscript-fonts-(std|other)-6.50.tar.gz, but I
suspect Fontmap doesn't know about them -- and I'd hate to tell it by
hand.
It'd be so sweet if I could get this to work. The idea is to make PDFs
by telling a Windows machine to print to a Samba "printer" that really
just does ps2pdf and puts the output in the right place.
Any ideas where I'm going wrong?
Ben
