ls /lib

you'll see a bunch of files with the version number which are all part of the
glibc package with is MUCH more than just libc...but...

lookfor libc-2.2.4.so (which is the version I use) you'll also see symlinks
called

libc-6.so this is the unix libc equivelent version for those programs that
require unix libc..Its just a link so those programs can find what they are
looking for within our glibc libs.
