Thank you to Paul F. and Kai!
Paul, you were exactly right about the 5th field for my name. After
using the nifty tool Kai mentioned, it reads my full name. I
could've used vi, but I was nervous about hacking the /etc/passwd
file. Curious, how would one do this if they were running
/etc/shadow? MD5?
Kai, thank you for the advice about root. My intent is to send
emails from my Linux station to Linux lists (SLUG) when I have
problems as an admin. Sometimes, in order to send emails about
issues, I had to type error messages verbatim on my Mac. That was
getting annoying.
