I have some odd sounds problems.

I love to play Unreal Tournament and Railroad tycoon 2 on my linux box. My
sound seems to work if I reinstall the game, but it doesn't stick. I get an
error message:
Warning Unable to open Audio; Couldn't open audio device or ESD connection.

So I'm guessing that esd is not running? How do I make sure it start every
time?
