This is definitely for an enterprise solution, but
this is one of the solutions we use at work.

InterScan® VirusWall

I believe that Trend provides free evaluation copies,
but the purchase price is chunk of $, but it has been
effective in a M$ enviroment, while running on a UNIX
box. We strip most attachments (such as .exe's and
.vbs's) with e-mail. Also block web based e-mail, so
that all e-mail must come through "Exchange". Nimba
was our most significant threat, but about 10 machines
out of 750 where infected. Only 2 of those we had to
format, since they where to badly infected to recover.
We are pretty sure these machines where infected from
"Trusted" servers from another Domain within our
intranet. Otherwise, the Trend software has been
pretty effective.
