There have been comments from Microsoft Xbox PR/engineers that there is
hardware in the Xbox that intimately ties it to the embedded windows
stuff that all the games have to use. Some of the sites I've looked at
have speculated that the nVidia chip itself may have hardware hooks to
the OS as well. It will probably never run any other OS without some
low-level resoldering.
Considering that inside it's just a pretty average PC, I don't see it as
being worth the effort myself.
