HELP
I have 3 older PS's with Serial mouse ports and 1 with the std. PS/2 mouse
connector. I am trying
to use a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) Switch to reduce the number of monitors
and peripherals.
My problem is this.
I can't seem to be able to find an adapter to ( CORRECTLY) convert PS/2 to
Serial.
I need to get from a PS/2 mouse ( plugs into the "common" side of the
switch). Then a PS/2(M)to a Serial mouse connector on the PC ( comm. 1 /
DB-9(f))
It has been suggested that The mouse must be capable to operate as a serial
or PS/2, and that adapters won't work unless the mouse can read the signal.
I have dissected 2 PS/2 mice and found a 4 wire and a 6 wire configuration.
HOW DO YOU TELL WHICH MICE ARE WHICH ???? ( PS/2)
HOW CAN I TEST THESE DIFFERENCES TO QUALIFY THE MOUSE??
IS A MOUSE WITH 4 WIRES(internal) OR THE MOUSE WITH 6 WIRES(internal) A
COMPATIBLE MOUSE ?????
What is the pin designations for a serial mouse and there corresponding ps/2
pin-outs and designations ??.
I don't have a problem making an adapter myself, I just need the pin-out for
the conversion.
P.S.
I just tried a couple of rounds with gender changers without success.
thanks Fred
