Since I was advised to make sure I did not have gpm running things are good.
It is possible there is a little hint of the old behaviour at very long
intervals - but it is so slight and infrequent I can not quite be certain!
I'm keeping an eye on the question about KVM switches because I feel the Aten
4 port I have been using for over 4 years may contirbute to the problem and
also because it does not handle high res graphics at all well.
