My company sells a software/hardware package that makes use of
Linux/Unix RAW I/O. Many customers would like to change the size and
number of raw partitions that comes on a default installation, but find
it difficult to re-partition while preserving they're current data sets.
I recently read a white paper on Logical Volume Management, and I've
heard others say it's the wave of the future. From the top down it looks
like a pretty good solution to our customers concerns. My question is:
Has anyone had practical experience using-supporting the LVM? What kind
of utilities and interfaces are available? Are there any performance
considerations when compared with straight partitions?
Thanks
