You can always try and put an "echo i got here!" line just above/below
your alias setting to see if it gets echoed. This will tell you if the
file is, indeed, getting sourced.
However, doing a "source .bashrc" as the user will load the file up and
let you see any errors. Doing the login thing should be the last step in
verifying it works.
