[SLUG] Linux Printing Problems

I'm having trouble printing and wonder if anyone can offer some tips.

* Slack 8.0 with 2.2.19 kernel
* HP 4V @ 10.10.12.7
* I've run /usr/lib/apsfilter/SETUP
* ghostscript v 5.50
* printer driver selection: ljet4
* interface setup: network (lpd)
* device: 10.10.12.7
* paper: letter
* resolution: 600x600
* monochrome
* this generated the following printcap file (commented blather
omitted):

# Generic printer:
lp:lp=/dev/lp0:sd=/var/spool/lpd:sh

There is a big hole in my understanding of Linux printing fundamentals but
one thing I can see that there doesn't seem to be anything in the printcap
file that references the printer IP number.

Windows clients can print to it so the printer is functional.

What am I missing?

Any help greatly appreciated.
