I see a little confusion, maybe mine, that in your pictogram you are
traversing the Internet. If that is the case, you can't use a private
IP. You would be using the IP of the WAN side of the Linksys router.
Also, you would need to set the router's DMZ to the tower box you wish
to reach (or preferrably, though I don't remember if Linksys does this,
to forward port 21 to the IP of the tower). In its normal configuration
the Linksys box is going to block any new inbound traffic. Also, is
your notebook sitting on the internet, or is it behind a router/firewall
also?
