I've NEVER had a problem mixing SCSI and IDE in the same box.
Here's an example... hdb is CD-RW (scsi emulation), IDE is a SIS5513 built
into the motherboard. sda is hanging off an Adaptec 2940U.
$ cat /etc/lilo.conf
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
vga=normal
default=windows
keytable=/boot/us.klt
lba32
prompt
timeout=300
message=/boot/message-graphic
menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=linux
root=/dev/sda2
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append=" hdb=ide-scsi"
vga=791
read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=failsafe
root=/dev/sda2
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append=" hdb=ide-scsi failsafe"
read-only
other=/dev/hda1
label=windows
table=/dev/hda
PLEASE, no remarks on the default option- it's for my 6 year old... ;)
I've also done this on Compaq servers with their HW RAID card, but never with
SuSE (which is what the original post asked about- sorry for the distraction).
