I have had some good experience with Wine. I use the CVS tool to
check-out Wine, and keep it up to date. It is improving so rapidly,
that going the CVS route is best (IMHO). I have had the best luck,
where a few of the DLLs are copied from a real Win98 install. There are
still real problems, like modal windows not working (at least not from
VB programs). Check-out the CodeWeavers' app database to see if your
apps are known to be working.
